About
Supporting families through challenging times is both an honour and a serious responsibility. As a child-centred practitioner, I hold children’s rights and well-being at the centre of all clinical decisions.
While I work with children individually, caregiver involvement is a crucial part of a child’s treatment. Therefore, every 4 or 5 client sessions, I meet with caregivers to discuss progress. These sessions can be less frequent with older teenagers, but they are still needed.
The physical space at Child-Centred Sydney was purposely designed according to child-centred play therapy guidelines —and their adaptation for older children, activity therapy.
My vision: A child-centred society that values and respects children’s rights.
Mental health professionals are required to engage in career-long supervision to meet their professional associations’ criteria.
Regular supervision is essential for maintaining ethical boundaries and ensuring practitioners operate within professional standards. It provides a confidential space for clinicians to reflect on workplace issues and the personal impact of the work, enhancing both professional service and personal well-being.
I participate in regular supervision with Josephine Martin, RPT-S. Jo was the founding president of APPTA (Australiasia Pacific Play Therapy Association), and has worked hard to support the growth of play therapy in the Australasian region for over fifteen years.
In addition to individual supervision and professional development, I attend group supervision with colleagues at the Family Psychology Practice, where I am an independent contractor. I am also a member of the CCPT Collective, an international community of play therapists with the goal of advancing the child-centred model.
